Every photograph in guessNow is a genuine archival image, published with its photographer, licence and source. Here is how that record is kept.
Most history guessing games use stock photography or AI-generated imagery. An AI-generated 'historical' photograph is a contradiction: it cannot be dated, it cannot be sourced, and it teaches nothing about how history is actually evidenced. guessNow is built the opposite way. Every round is a real photograph with a recorded photographer, licence and source.
Every record holds the photographer or institution, the year the photograph was taken, the licence it is published under, and a link to the source. That record is shown on the reveal in the game and on every page of the archive.
Images enter the game through a review process that captures the provenance record at the point of intake, rather than reconstructing it later. Images whose provenance cannot be established are held back from the game.
If you believe a photograph in the archive is misattributed or misdated, write to antoni.kowalski@guessnow.fun and it will be corrected.
